How Do I Modify My Profile? Log in and click on the Profile link in the green bar at the top of the page, this takes you to your profile page. Click on Modify, and this will let you: - Upload your own avatar; - Add your instant messaging, skype etc names. This information will be shown to everyone who visits your profile page; - Add a public email address; - Add some information about yourself; and - Change your password. 2. How Do I Add or Change My Avatar? - Log in and go to your Profile page and click on Modify; - Select the button 'I want to upload my own avatar' and click Save; - Enter the location of the picture you wish to use by using the Browse button and click Upload Image; and - Your image will be uploaded and automatically resized. 3. My Password Has Been Reset to 'Password', How Do I Change It? - Log in and go to Your Profile page; - Click on Modify; - At the bottom of the page enter 'Password' in the Old Password box; and - Enter your new password in the New Password box. 4. Why Has My Account Been Banned? We will ban any account that does not stick to the posting guidelines and/or duplicate accounts from the same IP address. 5. What Are The Posting Guidelines? We want to foster an active and lively community, and to do this we encourage discussion on articles submitted. However, please avoid personal attacks, swearing and abusive comments. If you've written an article on your blog or website that you'd like to share with others, then that's fine with us. However, if you constantly promote your own material and contribute little else to the community, then that is contrary to the spirit of the forum and your account will be terminated. Before posting please make sure that the same aricle, video or story hasn't been submitted. Duplicates will be discarded. 6. What Do All the Story Links Mean?
Vote Box: The vote box records the number of times a story has been voted on. To vote on a story you need to log in, and click on the vote box. You can only vote on a story once. Posted by god: This is the username of the person who made the post. If it's your post, click on your username to be taken directly to your Profile page. If it's not your post, click on the user name and two options will appear on the right hand side of the screen: - View Profile: click on this link to view the Profile of the person who submitted the story; and - Add to My Friends: click on this link to add the person who submitted the story to your friends. http://www.dogtopics.com: Click on this link to be taken to directly to the story that has been submitted. admin links: This link will appear if you have submitted the story; click on it another link called 'Edit the Title or Description' will appear below. Click on this link to edit the information you have submitted about the story. You cannot delete a story once it has been submitted. Category: Click on the link to display all the other stories that have been submitted to that category. If you are looking at a story on the Published News page, then it will only show stories on the Published News page that are in that category. Tags: These are keywords that describe the story; click on any one the tags to show other stories that contain identical tags. Discuss: Click on this link to add a Comment about the story. Add this link to: By clicking on this link you have the option to bookmark the story in del.icio.us, Reddit, Simpy, Yahoo oradd the story to your list of favourites stored on your computer. Save: Click on this link to save the story to the Saved section of your profile. Tell A Friend: Click on this link and you have the option of sending a link to the story to 3 friends. 7. How Do I Find a Story? There are a number of ways to find a story on Dog Topics News. For example, if you want to find all the articles and videos about trimming dog toenails you could do this by: - Using the search box at the top of the page and type in the keywords 'trim toenails'; or - Click on 'Tags' link in the green bar at the top of the page. This will list all the tags that have been used when stories are submitted. Find a tag that matches what you are looking for, click the link and you'll be shown all the posts containing that keyword; or - Click on the Dog Care category link in the sidebar and browse through the submitted stories for one about toe nail trimming; or - Browse the Published News and Upcoming News pages for stories about toe nail trimming. 8. How Do I Customise The Way I View Stories? You can view the stories in a number of ways. By default the Published News page shows the most recently popular stories (those that are voted onto the Published News page) at the top of the page. You can sort the Published News page to look at those stories that were made popular Yesterday, last Week, last Month or last Year by clicking the appropriate 'Sort news by' link towards the top of the page. If you just want to look at those stories voted to the Published News page today, click on the Top Today link in the sidebar. By default the Upcoming News shows stories by date of submission. You can sort the stories on this page by the Oldest, Most Popular or Least Popular by clicking the appropriate 'Sort news by' link towards the top of the page. The Soon to Expire link in the sidebar will show you the next 10 stories that are to be discarded. Stories are discarded if they don't receive 5 votes within 10 days of being submitted. You can view stories by Category by clicking on the aprropriate category link in the sidebar. You can view all stories tagged with the same keyword by selecting a Tag either from the Tag page (click on 'Tags' in the green bar at the top of the page) or choosing one of the Top 15 Tags shown in the sidebar. 9.
